Catskill LIT musicians-in-residence Jude Roberts & Julie Parisi Kirby, joined by musicians T.G. Vanini & Marji Zintz will intersperse songs with readings from poets representing local indie publisher Post Traumatic Press.

Since 2000, Post Traumatic Press has given voices to veterans and noncombatants whose lives have been affected by the trauma of war as well as other Hudson Valley authors who express something poignant and meaningful about the human condition.

Poets

Leslie Gerber was born in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in creative writing. For 39 years he ran a mail-order classical music business, while writing thousands of music reviews and articles. In 1970 he moved to Ulster County and has lived there ever since. He began writing poetry in 1999. He is a proud member of the Goat Hill Poets, founded by Cheryl A. Rice and himself. Leslie is the author of two chapbooks, Lies of the Poetsand The Edge of Sleep, published by Post Traumatic Press. His new book Losing Tarais coming out this year.  Website: www.lesliegerber.net

Sharon Israel hosts the radio program Planet Poet–Words in Space, an edition of The Writer's Voice on WIOX 91.3 FM in the Catskills. As a poet and soprano, Sharon collaborates with composer Robert Cucinotta on works for voice, live instruments, and electronics.  Her poem “Melodrama at the Biograph” was nominated for Sundress Publication’s “2016 Best of the Net.”  Sharon’s debut chapbook Voice Lesson was published by Post Traumatic Press in 2017.  She is certified in the Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA) method.

Judith Kerman, publisher/editor of Mayapple Press, has authored many volumes of poetry and translations, including Praises & Offenses: Three Women Poets from the Dominican Republic(BOA Editions, 2009), the bilingual collection Plane Surfaces/Plano de Incidencia(Santo Domingo: CCLEH, 2002), and A Woman in Her Garden: Selected Poems of Dulce María Loynaz(Cuban; 1992 Cervantes Prize laureate—White Pine Press). She was a Fulbright Senior Scholar to the Dominican Republic in 2002, translating the poetry and fiction of contemporary Dominican women. Post Traumatic Press has published her collection, Postcards from America.

Much of Alison Koffler’s work inhabits the territory where the world of humans and other beings intersect.  Her poems have been published in numerous publications and she is the 4-time winner of the BRIO Award from the Bronx Council of the Arts.  She has also won the Poetry Teacher of the Year Award from McGraw-Hill and Poets’ House and the Green Heron Poetry Award. Her chapbooks Coyote and Other Poems, Animal Trance and The Others are available from Post Traumatic Press. She lives in Woodstock and the Bronx with her husband, the poet Dayl Wise and is the co-founder of Post Traumatic Press.

Lisa Mullenneaux began her career at Westways Magazine in Los Angeles. Returning to her native New York State in 1990, she edited law books at Matthew Bender Co. while contributing to magazines and newspapers on travel, health, and fitness. She resigned to launch a travel book press, Penington Press, which became a popular website for travel news. Lisa's five books are available online. Her Keep Talking to Her, Private is published by Post Traumatic Press. She teaches Advanced Writing for the University of Maryland UC.

Gretchen Primack is a poet and educator living in New York's Hudson Valley.  She's the author of Visiting Days (Willow Books), Kind (Post Traumatic Press), Doris' Red Spaces (Mayapple Press), and The Slow Creaking of Planets (Finishing Line Press). She co-wrote The Lucky Ones: My Passionate Fight for Farm Animals with Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary's Jenny Brown (Penguin Avery). Her poetry publication credits include The Paris Review, Prairie Schooner, Ploughshares, The Massachusetts Review, The Antioch Review and many others. Gretchen is a passionate advocate for the rights and welfare of non-human animals and lives with several of them, along with a beloved human named Gus.

Guy Reed is co-author, with Cheryl A. Rice, of the chapbook, Until The Words Came (Post Traumatic Press). Author of the poetry chapbook, The Effort To Hold Light (Finishing Line Press), Guy has read his work on the podcast, The Strange Recital (thestrangerecital.com), and contributed poems to journals and films. He co-wrote and directed the short film, How The World Looks Now in 2018 and is currently working on a new film about the Esopus Creek. More information can be found at guyedwinreed.com

T. G. Vanini is a musician, poet and mathematician who has resided in Woodstock for three decades. His book of poems, Dear Cloudface, was published by Post Traumatic Press in 2018. He performs his songs and song-poetry with The Princes of Serendip.

Dayl Wise is said to be a swell guy and is an honorary member of the China Beach Surf Club. He was drafted into the Army with service in Viet Nam and currently is a member of Veterans for Peace. With his wife, the poet Alison Koffler, he is the co-founder of Post Traumatic Press.  His poems have appeared in numerous publications, and he is the author of Poems and other stuff and Basic Load, both published by Post Traumatic Press.

A singer/songwriter based in Woodstock, NY, Julie Parisi Kirby has sung leads and harmonies with her husband, T.G. Vanini, in The Princes of Serendip for the last 20 years. A versatile singer, Julie has sung in a variety of styles including folk, pop, traditional and Renaissance. Acoustic guitarist and vocalist Marji Zintz, living and performing in the Catskills/Hudson Valley region of New York, is a gifted, soulful interpreter performing a hybrid of contemporary folk, rock, and jazz. With a voice that has been likened to Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Eva Cassidy, Shawn Colvin, and Billie Holiday, Marji has performed thousands of shows and has recorded as a soloist and in larger ensembles in the jazz and folk genres, such as a mostly a capella recording and performance project called “Sister Sound.”  In addition to her extensive solo work, Marji is currently part of an exciting new project, “Becoming Human,” with Jim Kunkel on guitars and Mickey Kopchak on effects & bass and vocals, and occasionally Ron Wilson on drums/percussion, performing original songs of observation, realization, and transformation. http://marjizintz.us
